Seven Feet Closer to a Book Signing

The book-signing banner came in today. I took my wife out to lunch, then we came home and set it up. Seven feet tall. It had that pretty smell of new vinyl like a new record, the beginning of an adventure.

My wife stood there looking at the audacity of it all. I can understand that. It looked smaller on the computer.

Now there’s seven feet of Midnight Radio standing in our house. My book, my name, and that road leading into Henry. I think people will be able to find me at the signing. Possibly from the parking lot.

I took this picture in front of my gun cabinet, with my AlphaSmart 3000 on top and my Henry rifle on the wall. It doesn’t get much more Texas than this. Or more Midnight Radio.

I took a picture, and my phone picked up the QR code. I still checked the link. It works!

I also gave final approval for the gold sticker today. Linda and I finally got that little thing sorted out. Between a gold sticker and a seven-foot banner, we have both ends of the size problem covered.

It’s good to see these things coming in. We spend so much time looking at designs on a screen, changing them, checking them, and wondering how they’ll look when they get here.

Then you stand one up in your house, and your wife looks at you. Lol.

After release, I’m starting with the local library, then the press. We’ll work toward bookstore signings as we make contacts and arrangements.

I want to enjoy meeting whoever comes. Talk about the book, hear a few stories, catch up with anyone who remembers the show. Even if only a few people turn up, I want it to be a good experience for them.

I gently packed it back up and put it in its case. Now I’m wondering what the local public library is going to think when I unfurl this Midnight Radio beast.

I’ll bring the book, too. It’s smaller. Several of them, in fact. You can pick a signed one up from me at every book signing. Me, I will be the 6'4" man under the 7' sign.
