Pumpkins till you Drop

Pumpkin displays and vintage rides beneath the red porch at Assiter Punkin Ranch in Floydada, Texas

Today we went to Assiter Punkin Ranch & Pumpkin Patch in Floydada, Texas. I asked my wife, “How long have we been coming here now?” “Five years!” I can’t believe it. I can’t help but think this year might be our last time.

We stopped at a local Mexican restaurant, had an agreeable meal, and dropped my son off at his grandmother’s house. He wanted to go, I swear. Being a night worker, I found myself bound by gravity to take a nap at three p.m. upon our return.

“Midnight Radio (Remastered)” · Electra Stone

When I woke up, I got my coffee and settled onto the couch. My son came rushing into the den, wanting to listen to Electra Stone’s latest work. I have to say, it reminds me of a mix of Fright Night, “The Chase” from Midnight Express, and Stranger Things. It fits Midnight Radio perfectly, and he loves to dance to it.

After that, he danced to “Party Till You Drop” from The Monster Squad.

Even though it’s fall break, bedtime is bedtime, so he had to go get ready. Twenty minutes later, I heard his mother using her agitated voice. Three minutes after that, she informed me I would need to take out the trash because she had to clean up my son’s vomit from the bathroom floor. So much for a quiet evening.

Meanwhile, Linda and I are making a mad scramble to get everything finalized for the October 20th launch. The hours tick away, and the pressure is on. I want to apologize to those close to me if I seem less present than normal. My eyes are focused, my view is narrow, and I’m ready to launch this bitch-kitty into the world.

I would also like to thank everyone who agreed to participate in the Midnight Radio ARC program. ARC stands for advance reader copy. This is my first book launch, and I’ve learned volumes.

Those lessons have helped us revise the Midnight Publishing ARC program. If you want a free advance copy of my work, read the details and sign up. It’s easy to join, but there are conditions. Please read them before you commit.

Thank you all. The time is fast approaching.

Stay tuned.
